It has become a norm for a young lady to go on a date with some extra cash on. This extra cash can be termed “vex money”.

Vex money is now the latest trend on the rise: which i feel has come to stay. Since no one wants to hear stories that touch or be part of a form of embarrassment, it is best you learn to go out with some on every date possible. In fact, personally, I feel if you don’t have it, just gently stay put. Some perks attached to the practice of having your vex money are-

Your Mind Will Be Settled

The feeling you get is always nice when you know you can never be stranded. Should anything unexpected happen? You’ve got some extra cash not only to take yourself back home (if you do not have a car) but also to give yourself the fun expected on the date. It’s soothing and relaxing. It is not okay to assume you trust him well enough. Trust smart!!

You Will Be Ready for Anything

Going out with cash at hand prepares you for anything. Say the bruva decides he won’t pay or for some reason his card declines, or something: you would have to save the day. Always be ready!!

If He Actually ‘’VEX’’

So the name ‘’vex money’’ was actually gotten from the money you use to find your level if on an outing or date of some sort goes the other way. Now that is the same thing I mean when I say if he actually vexes. If such misunderstanding arises, you could decide to storm out. But you can only do so when you have the cash to take yourself to where you brought yourself from. ‘’Vex money’’ isn’t just a name that was put there as it really means what it says. So I advise that as you go on that outing, hold some on the vex money in case someone gets vexed.

There Could Be a Change of Plans

During your outing, plans could change. This doesn’t mean you did not plan well or you are reckless but mistakes are bound to happen. In as much as we can plan it all and then have it all go as planned. It is therefore of high importance that you try your best possible to not let the tilt in plan get you down. A little cash at hand could go a long way in helping out with some of these plans. You can never be too careful.

In conclusion, it is key to have some cash with you when you feel the need to go out on a date, an outing or anywhere generally. It’s better safe than sorry.

It is very difficult to find a woman who doesn’t have a thing for shoes. It is embedded in the female being. As the love for shoes grow among women, it is also very important that they know the right type of shoes to wear for the different occasion. Some tips that guide ones choice in picking the right shoes for different occasions are;

Evening Events

Times like this, when you need to go out for a cocktail party, dinner, gala etc. high heel shoes are best to be worn. High heels are best for these kinds of outing (inches as you feel comfortable), with a lovely gown of your choice mainly because they are classy outings and would need the lady to look elegant as heels give the woman a good poise and a sexy walk. High heel shoes could be somewhat uncomfortable but those with good platforms are always comfy and good looking.

Wedges are also a YES!

Casual Outing

Casual always works for me mainly because it gives room for spontaneity in dressing but in as much as there is a level of freedom to the casual kind of outfits, discretion is best advised for the suitable footwear to go along with your casual wears. A common casual look could be seen in a lovely top with a shredded jean and a converse pair of sneaker. Other foot wears that are always ‘’ to die for’’ on a casual outfit include; a classy pair of boots, ‘’Knock about flats’’ and strapped on sandals, to mention but a few. With casuals, you can almost never go wrong.

Official Outing

Elegance and Comfort should be the watchword when trying to find the type of work shoes best suitable for you. When it comes to work, it is advisable to stick with comfortable and cozy kind of shoes as you will need to be most comfy while you work. For this to be achieved, some shoes are better recommended. Strapped-on, laced and pump shoes with very comfortable platforms are your good friends at this times. Recommendations are also made to some sandal shoes by ‘’Clark’s” as they are really comfortable to move around in. No one wants to fall flat or have no blood go to the foot area while working.

Sporting & Exercise

It is always good to look healthy. There are no apologies to looking good and healthy at the same time. To achieve this, ensure that your exercise/sport wears sit smart and comfy on you. Gym sneakers are always cozy and make you feel like you have nothing on your feet so it is advisable that when picking your sporting shoes, go for the sneakers that aren’t so tight so your toes can breathe. Also, go light on the sneakers. It is a lot easier to move your body when your feet is light.

There you have it, the guide to help select the right shoes that will serve it purpose. Events that you need the perfect foot wears for are not limited to this but the above lists the very important ones.

The absence of monthly flow in women is sometimes alarming and mostly gets the female involved in some sort of panic. Monthly menstrual flow missed by women is a great deal when she knows she is not pregnant but we can say that women who have missed at least three menstrual periods in a row and are not pregnant are possibly positive with Amenorrhea. Asides this fact, another set of people that could be classified as having Amenorrhea are young girls who haven’t begun menstruation by age 15. It could also be caused by tumors in the reproductive system. Subsequently, we will be talking about its Causes, symptoms and treatments.

Causes

Amenorrhea is classifies into two: Primary or Secondary. The Primary Amenorrhea is more of a biological trait which occurs when a young girl of say 14 starts to develop sexual characteristics but doesn’t have menstrual bleeding while the secondary cause is when a lady who has been having menstrual flows suddenly stops for three or more months without pregnancy. Basically, it is important to note that there are different causes of this, some of which are Hypothalamic, Pituitary, Ovarian and some other functional causes.

Symptoms

There are different signs and symptoms as to how a lady could be suffering from Amenorrhea but the main symptom is the absence of menstrual flow when there is no presence of a foetus and then peradventure she starts to witness hair loss, headache, pelvic pain, milky nipple discharge and some changes in vision. Also if she is about 15 and above but hasn’t had her menstrual period, it could be as a result of Amenorrhea at the primary level so it is advised that when all these symptoms persist, you should please consult a doctor.

Treatments

Treatment depends on the cause of the Amenorrhea. Some may say contraceptive pills or other hormone therapies can create a new cycle for the menses as it in a way creates a new start. Amenorrhea that is caused by thyroid or pituitary disorder may be treated with medications. Treatment cannot be self-medicated or self-induced as a doctor or specialist should be seen and proper advice should be given. Some cases of amenorrhea can be treated with medications, while others include anatomical abnormalities of the genital tract and may require surgery.

For example, when primary amenorrhea is caused by abnormalities in the reproductive system, surgery and medication may be required. Amenorrhea caused by tumors would also need radiation therapy and medication or surgery to shrink or remove the tumor.

Causes such as low body weight, excessive exercise, and high levels of stress are lifestyle factors that need to be balanced out to revert to the normal functioning of the body.

As part of the treatment of Amenorrhea, some home made remedies can also be employed to keep it in check. They include:

Boil half a cup of water and add a teaspoon of saffron. Boil till the water reduces down to a concentrated tablespoon. Divide this concentrate into three parts and have it over the course of the day. Saffron is a powerful antioxidant that can treat chronic inflammatory conditions as well as reduce stress that may be causing Amenorrhea.

Drinking two to three glasses of tomato juice daily is said to improve blood circulation and treat Amenorrhea.

Raw beetroot or fresh beetroot juice is considered an effective treatment for amenorrhea.

Foods such as papaya, sesame seeds, ginger, and bitter gourd can increase the internal body temperature and improve ovulation. This in turn can result in regular periods.

There is a substance known as butylidene-phthalide found in celery seeds that help to stimulate menstrual bleeding.

There are a number of herbs known as emmenagogues that bring on menstrual bleeding. These should be taken only under qualified supervision as they can react adversely with other medication and can be dangerous if not taken in the proper dosages. Herbs used to treat amenorrhea include chamomile, angelica root, Blue cohosh, false unicorn root, and lemon balm.

Chamomile is a relaxant and an antispasmodic that can be had as a supplement or drunk as a tea. Absence of menstruation caused by stress and anxiety can be treated with chamomile.

Angelica root tea or extract can reduce stagnation in the reproductive system. Angelica root essential oil can also be massaged onto the abdominal area to induce menstruation.

Blue Cohosh is believed to be a powerful uterine stimulant. It improves blood flow to the pelvic region and can also be combined with Black cohosh to treat other menstrual problems.

False unicorn root has been used down the ages to treat problems with menstruation and infertility. The Native Americans believe that this herb can prevent miscarriages as well as bring on menstruation.

Lemon balm – Melissa is a relaxant and calms the system down to encourage normal menstruation.

An infusion of stinging nettle leaf when drunk regularly is an effective treatment for amenorrhea.

The herb Pennyroyal is one of the best natural remedies for amenorrhea. It stimulates the reproductive system and encourages menstruation. It should be taken as a tea but only under supervision due to its strong properties. Penny royal essential oil can be fatal if taken internally as it is extremely toxic.

Mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon in a glass of milk and drink this every day to instigate weight loss. Weight loss is important to ensure regular menstruation.

Also considering your diet and encouraging healthy dietary needs is helpful in treating Amenorrhea. Since problems such as obesity, low body weight, and iron deficiency are common causes of the condition, an amenorrhea diet is recommended to improve overall health and functioning of all body system.

Include more iron-rich foods in your diet such as liver, seafood, spinach, soya beans and kidney beans. This prevents nutritional deficiencies such as anaemia that could be causing the absence of menstrual bleeding.

Avoid crash diets to reduce weight as this can further aggravate the condition of amenorrhea. Stick to a regime of healthy food and regular exercise to reduce weight safely.

Avoid fatty foods and products high in trans-fats. Use olive oil to cook to aid weight loss and add natural dietary fiber to improve your digestion and metabolism.

If you are underweight, increase your intake of protein and low-fat dairy products. This will help you gain weight in a healthy manner.

Do not forget your daily vitamin and mineral supplements along with folic acid as such deficiencies can lead to amenorrhea.

It is believed that following a gluten-free diet can prevent menstrual irregularities and can even restore fertility.

Amenorrhea is preventable and thereafter treatable so women are advised to eat healthy, exercise well and have a frequent check up with the doctor.

Nollywood movies before now had been stereotyped to basically the incidents surrounding the rituals men do for money, blood covenants and occultic purposes. Eventually, we progress a bit and then started acting movies to portray love and romance. Evidently, the latter genre was more accepted because it soothes the thought of an average individual and leaves you wanting some good loving.

These movies will always ring a bell in the mind of movie lovers.

Lagos Cougars

Romantic here could possibly be for one of the couples in the movie. They all had their issues and were dealing with them as well as they could but the characters of the boss lady and her employee got my attention the most. A young lad who had a crush on his boss and found a way to nurture this crush till it turned to love for her. This is not the everyday kind of love and that is the tripping part of it all because in the employer/employee way, they find genuine love and romance.

Mr. & Mrs.

At the beginning of the movie, there was nothing romantic about their marriage. A lady barrister doing all she can to make her husband happy and her marriage blissful but her husband nonsense her efforts and makes her feel like she is nothing and so she decided to give him a taste of his medicine. Apparently, he had to show how much he loves her so she doesn’t walk away from his life.

“76

Seventy six is a historical fictional drama that showed how an Army officer fell in love with an O level student and she eventually got pregnant for him. Even though the relationship is dented by constant military posting, the couple still find a way to make it through all of that and hold strong through it all.

Flower Girl

She is a pretty and simple florist who tries her best to live a normal and good life. Her boyfriend on the other hand seems to be lost in working his best for his boss. She decides to team up with a popular actor to get her boyfriend jealous and let him know what he is missing. The process of all these gives our “flower girl” some experience she never knew about.

Okafor’s Law

Notorious playboy “Chucks the Terminator” felt like nothing or no one can make him be in love until he meets this persistent female who showed that he can love and be loved regardless. Chuck starts to find reasons to love someone and share a romantic life asides his life of promiscuousness and he decides to settle down. In the end love actually matters.

Today, Nollywood has done well to portray love and romance. Kudos Nollywood!

Nigerian movies have evolved from the days of ritual killings that take part within the country to the positive things that we can find in our country. This is not to say that the former isn’t still happening but the latter gives a better representation of us as a country and our way of life. Some of them are quite hilarious and epic but point blank lesson driven. Bottom-line, Nollywood Cinderella Movies have a way of making you want to be in love and be loved. Below are some of the Nollywood romance movies that will leave you gushing for some love;

Flower girl

This is a story of a humble flourish who seemed to want the total attention of her boyfriend and thereafter proposal. So decided to team up with a huge movie star she met by chance so as to get her boyfriend to see what he is missing by having to side line her. As she does this, she also finds a way to have fun while at it. This movie has a very big lesson of cherishing what you have so you don’t loose it/him/her to anyone or anything.

Phone Swap

A hilarious and seat sticking movie that will make you see the purpose of coincidence and how it could make love take over. Phone swap is a movie that involves a rich gentleman who mistakenly swaps his phone with a lady at the airport and then love and serendipity happens. He gets to like this humble fashion designer and falls in love with her. This movie shows that we have no idea how people live till we stick our feet in their shoes.

Super Love

Super Love depicts how a prince decides to find a wife for himself against the wish of his parents to marry a childhood friend who they have arranged for him. The prince decides to marry a lady that piqued his interest. This lady happens to be a housekeeper for her wicked stepfather and stepsisters. It truly tells a Cinderella story but one in a Nigerian setting.

Desperate Housemaids

Although a rather ‘scary’ title, it shows a good example of a guy meet girl scenario, especially when the supposed ‘street girl’ got the job of a maid for a rich man who decides to take care of her and see her as his girlfriend. Although she was fond of stealing things and leaving the life of a ‘street girl’, she found a way to stop because of the love she had for her ‘’Oga”. They eventually got together and became an item.
Another Cinderella story unveiled

Truth be told, Nollywood Cinderella Movies give us a picture of what we want love to look like, Yes. But it isn’t just a thing for the movies. Within the ups and down of a couples life, it is required that couples realise that when it is good, It should be the best. Why not create your Cinderella story today.

Women everywhere are gifts from God to mankind. So it is only good that we celebrate them whenever we get the chance. Some of these women aren’t just stay at home mums but they find a way to hustle as opposed to the traditional belief that the place of a woman is in the kitchen and “za aza” room. Some reasons why we should celebrate these women are-

She Finds a Way to Balance Domestic Work and Hustle

It is worth celebrating when you find that woman who can balance her career and the home. You shouldn’t be lacking in anyway. Be domestic- learn to keep a home and a career, this shows your strength as a woman.

She Is Not Totally Dependent On Her Partner

Respect is earned. Take up responsibilities of your own. Do not wait on your man before you feed and fend for yourself. Every man wants a self-dependent woman. One who makes her own money. One who would not wait on a man to be at her beck and call. Such a woman earns the greatest respect of all time.

She Assists Financially

Just like the above, a woman that can assist financially in any form is an asset to whoever she is with. We know sometimes the men will not want you to pay or assist because of the pride that comes with being a man. It will go a long way in letting him know you both are partners and should be ready to assist each other. Be selfless!

She is all Sacrificing

This mostly goes to single working mums. A typical single mum is all about getting all her kids want. Every other thing is secondary. When she makes this decision, she knowingly or unknowingly gives up her life. She becomes rigid in every decision she makes. In all she lives for her kids. Now that’s sacrifice. Sacrifice is to be celebrated.

We watch movies and possibly do not know that they have a big part to play in our mind and the way we think and go about our daily activities. They can affect us both negatively and positively. We shall seeing these effects below;

1) They could ruin your health
Movies are lovely but like they say, “Too much of everything is bad”. That is applicable for movies as well. It has been experimentally proven that the prefrontal cortex which is the thinking part of the brain is prone to activate when we watch horror movies and can also get the blood pumping fast thereby letting our blood pressure increase. In People who have one cardio vascular weaknesses, it could cause them to have heart attacks when movies with contents that don’t suit the health of their hearts are shown to them. It is best we watch what we watch to avoid “stories that touch”.

2) They could make you aggressive

Generally, scientists, politicians, parents and practically everyone has contemplated on the effect of movies on the children and the young adult. It can be said though that watching aggressive on screen movies can contribute to being a bully in real life and also watching a lot of violent movies can cause an individual to act violently when faced with real live situation. It is therefore important that viewer’s discretion is duly advised when watching any provocative or violent movie.

3) They could get addictive

“Repetition is the key to mastery”. This statement affect us both in the negative and positive sense. When we continuously watch a movie, you notice that you can follow up with the words of the actors when they speak. So also the act involved. It could make us addicted to the movie. A good example of a genre of movie that could get us addicted is pornographic movies. This goes a long way in destroying the mind, our views on sex and the way we act thereafter. So I advise that measures should be taken in the movies we watch so as to eliminate negative addictions.

4) They can make you more creative

Funny as this may sound, I have learned a lot of vocational handiwork from movies I have watched and I know there are a lot of people who can say same. There are some movies you watch that do not only get you trying new things but also make you want to try them out almost immediately. An example on a movie that puts you on your feet to try out what you have seen or even do better is “Limitless”. Even though he had to depend on a drug, he was making things happen so instead of a drug, you could make your own drug God and yourself. And Transcend.

5) They can make you feel happy

Have you ever come out of a cinema hall after a really awesome movie and you just feel so happy??
Like you enjoyed the movie so much you can’t wait to tell everyone you know about it. Yeah, a movie can do that to you and sometimes it gushes out so well you loose control of yourself. When this happens don’t worry, you aren’t in the first stage of “yabaleft”, you are just expressing what the movie has done to you which is a good thing.

6) They can get you in a mood

Watching movies could get you in the mood in which the movie portrays. Have you wondered why you cry when you watch “Titanic”? Mostly because you put yourself in Jack Dawson’s position or Rose Dewitt Bukater having to loose a loved one. All the same, there is an emotional feeling it comes with. That feeling just comes, you might wipe away the tears but well, the emotion lingers on.

7) They inspire you

When you watch some type of movies, you get inspired based on the story line of that movie. Most of the Tyler Perry movies, although hilarious always have inspirational messages to pass to its audience. A good and inspiring Tyler Perry movie to see is “Diary of a mad black woman” and see the strength in the feminine gender.

So why don’t you tell us all other things movies have made you feel or do in the comment section…

2) ASA
Bukola Elemide aka Asa’s songs need you to listen to the lyrics because they always leave you pondering on how life is. The steps you must have taken wrongly and how to right them. Sometimes indigenous, the singer speaks to and for all. The politicians, the jailer, the preacher man, bamidele and even the magnificent Lagos Masquerade “Eyoo”. Asa tells it as it is and that makes her stand out as one of Nigeria’s finest.

3) NNEKA
The Germany based artist has released so many songs including “Kangpe” which happens to be a soundtrack on the EA Sports FIFA 2010 video game and even though in diaspora, she still maintains and portrays her African heritage.

4) CHRISTY ESSIEN IGBOKWE
This legend has given much pleasure to our hearing by the music she gave to us. Even in her absence we still enjoy the lovely music Christy Essien Igbokwe gave us while she was among us. This Lady has bagged countless international and local awards and she is definitely not celebrated as much as she should be. She also held other positions in extra curricula activities and is well known for her charitable deeds. She will always be the lady of songs.

5) OMAWUMI
So many people do not appreciate this Damsel with the angelic voice but like it or not Omawumi’s voice has a way of soothing that hurting feeling you get when you do not know what to do. Even though she turned out as a runner up at the West African idols, she still shows that with her voice she can do a lot and share a lot. Omawumi’s voice is effortless and she has shown us on different levels how she can make an environment that is dull an environment with much love and cheer. That voice though!
