The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has stumbled into the second phase of its student loan application process, leaving over 100 institutions and their students scrambling to catch up. While the first phase saw successful applications from students in federal institutions, the joy was short-lived for many in state-owned universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

NELFUND Second Phase Opens, But Not for All

On July 7, 2024, NELFUND announced the much-anticipated launch of the second phase, finally opening the doors for students in 36 state-owned universities. However, this seemingly positive development came with a significant caveat: only institutions that had successfully uploaded their student data to the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS) were included. This system, designed to ensure application legitimacy, left over 100 institutions in the dust, effectively barring their students from accessing the loans.

The Data Debacle: Missed Deadlines and Frustrated Students

The crux of the issue lies in the delay of student data submission by these institutions. NELFUND had previously set deadlines for institutions to upload student information, including JAMB numbers, matriculation numbers, program durations, and fees. Unfortunately, 48 state universities, 49 polytechnics, and 54 colleges of education failed to meet these deadlines, leaving their students in a state of uncertainty and frustration.

NELFUND Urges Institutions to Step Up, But Questions Remain

NELFUND has responded by urging these lagging institutions to expedite the data submission process. Their message is clear: comply quickly to allow students to benefit from this crucial government initiative aimed at expanding access to higher education. However, this raises questions about the reasons behind the delay and the effectiveness of NELFUND’s communication and support for institutions during the data gathering phase.

Students Left in Limbo: A Call for Transparency and Action

Students enrolled in the approved institutions can now take a sigh of relief and proceed with the online application process. However, for those in the remaining institutions, the wait continues. NELFUND’s website and the communication channels of their respective institutions should be their primary sources of information on when applications might open for them. Additionally, proactive students can directly contact their institutions to inquire about the status of student data submission.

NELFUND: A Beacon of Hope with Room for Improvement

The NELFUND student loan scheme is undeniably a positive step towards educational accessibility in Nigeria. Offering interest-free loans removes a significant financial barrier for students aiming to pursue tertiary education. While the initial delays and data submission hurdles are a setback, it’s crucial for NELFUND to work closely with institutions to ensure a smoother experience in the future.

Beyond the Headlines: Eligibility, Updates, and a Look Ahead

It’s important to remember that eligibility for NELFUND loans goes beyond simply attending an approved institution. Course of study and year of study might also play a role in determining who qualifies. Students are encouraged to visit the NELFUND website (https://nelf.gov.ng/) for the latest updates on eligibility criteria and application procedures.

The NELFUND program rollout hasn’t been without its share of controversy. Initial delays and concerns about program structure raised eyebrows. However, the potential of this program is undeniable. By addressing the data submission discrepancies, improving communication channels with institutions, and ensuring a transparent and efficient application process, NELFUND can truly become a beacon of hope for a wider range of Nigerian students seeking to pursue their educational dreams.

Bridal makeup trends are always evolving, and that is why it’s so important for you to choose the right look for your big day. Whether you are going for a classic look or a natural look, these tips will help guide you through the process of changing the stylish bridal makeup trends for 2024.

Why do they count? Bridal makeup trends are important because they can help make or break your marriage prints– and indeed if they don’t, they’ll still be delightful to try out! Your prints will last ever( and so will those recollections), so it pays off in spades if they turn out well.

How do I choose them? There are lots of different ways to go about choosing which bridal makeup trends work stylish for each bride. Some people prefer going with what feels most natural; others like experimenting with different aesthetics until trying one that really speaks their style; still others may want a more dramatic look than usual but are not sure how far is too far and the list goes on!

Natural gleam

The natural gleam look is about pressing your natural features. This means that you should concentrate on a dewy-eyed, radiant finish and use a light foundation to produce an indefectible complexion.

Use cream-grounded products rather of grease paint for an airbrushed effect.

Emphasize your eyes by applying makeup and eyeliner( if you are going for full glamour).

Statement Eyes

Use bold colours and textures to produce a statement eye.

Produce a cat-eye with false switches, or use liquid liner for a more subtle look.

Mix different tones of eyeshadow together for an ombré effect– this is especially effective when you are using bright colours!

Glittery Accentuations

Glitter and shimmer are your new stylish musketeers. Glittery accentuations can be incorporated into your eyeshadow, highlighter and lip buff. The key is to keep it subtle so that you do not look like a disco ball on your big day!

Bold Lips

Bold lips are a must-have for brides who want to look stylish on the big day. However, try a bright colour like orange or grandiloquent, If you do not want to go full-on red. You can also use a lip stain or liner in lieu of camo to produce an indeed bolder effect! For those who prefer a more subtle look, try applying an attar that matches your skin tone before adding buff over top of it( this will give off just enough colour without being too dramatic).

Pop of Color

Use bright colours. Bright colours are a great way to stand out from the crowd and make your makeup look further unique. However, try incorporating colour into your eyeshadow or using multicoloured makeup for a redundant pop of colour on the eyelashes, If you are not sure where to start.

Use coloured eyeliner rather than traditional black or brown tones that everyone differently uses! You can also experiment with different colours when it comes to powders or facades — the sky’s the limit!

Smokey Eyes

Smokey eyes are a classic look that noway goes out of style. To produce this effect, you will need to choose dark colours and use them in the right places.

First, apply a light base colour to your eyelids and brow bone with an eye shadow encounter or sponge applicator. However, be sure to tap off any excess before applying it!

Next, take an angled encounter( or smirching encounter if you have one) and apply a darker crinkle colour along the external corner of each eye socket– don’t worry if there is some fallout from this step; we’ll fix it latterly! Eventually, If you are using a greasepaint product.

The Winged Look

The winged look is a classic makeup trend that noway goes out of style. It’s also one of the easiest aesthetics to achieve, as it requires only two products; liquid eyeliner and an angled encounter( or your fritters!). To produce this look, start by applying a thin line of black or dark brown liquid liner along your upper lash line. Next, use either an angled encounter or your fritters to smirch out the line until you get that perfect winged shape you’ll want sharp enough so that it does not look like you forgot to put on makeup! Eventually, finish off with many fleeces of makeup for added drama!

Lustrous Lips

Lustrous lips are a go-to for brides and bridesmaids likewise. You can use a lip buff, attar or liner to get the look. However, try using a stain on top of your favourite camo colour!

If you want to go all out with this trend.

So far, we have reviewed the stylish matrimonial makeup trends for 2024. It’s important to keep in mind that these are just many of the numerous options out there! You should also consider what kind of look you want to go for and whether or not it’ll work with your style. For illustration, if you are an addict of natural beauty but still want a special look on your marriage day, consider adding some shimmer or sparkles around your eyes and lips.

Asoebi is a traditional Yoruba concept that has been trending in recent times. It’s a popular choice for marriages, especially among Nigerian women who want to look swish on their big day.

Asoebi styles can be worn by both misters and bridesmaids likewise, but they are especially suited for the couple because they are so elegant and beautiful. However, it’s important to know how each style works so that you can pick out a bone that suits your face shape stylish!

If you want to wear this trend at your marriage or other formal event.

Types of Asoebi Styles

Ankara is a type of fabric that began in Ankara, Turkey. It’s made from cotton or silk and has a veritably intricate pattern.

Lace is a type of fabric with holes in it, generally made from silk or rayon.

Velvet is a heavy fabric that feels like velvet when you touch it( but is not actually made out of velvet). It can be made from silk, hair or synthetic filaments like polyester or paintings– and occasionally indeed mixed together!

Chiffon is another kind of featherlight material that feels soft and flowy when you touch it; it’s frequently used for marriage dresses because it looks great under lights! Chiffons come in different weights grounded on how important they weigh per yard (or cadence). The heavier bones tend to bring further than lighter bones because they take longer to make but generally last longer too since they will not tear as fluently due to their consistency; still, if you are looking for a commodity more affordable also conclude for one made out of thinner accoutrements rather!

Brocade fabrics are analogous except they’ve patterns woven into them rather than published onto them like utmost other types do which makes them stand out indeed more visually despite being less precious than brocades themselves.

Popular Asoebi Styles

Off- shoulder

The off-shoulder style is a classic Asoebi style that can be worn by anyone. It’s a great way to show off your shoulders and arms, while still being modest enough for any occasion. The only thing you need to make sure of is that your bra strips are hidden or covered up with fabric so they do not show through when wearing this look!

Mermaid

The Mermaid Asoebi has long been popular among women because it flatters their bodies in all the right ways. This dress will give you angles in all the right places, but also make sure not too important skin shows through at formerly– just enough so that everyone knows what kind of body shape you have underneath those layers! High-Low Hemline Asoebi Styles

Accessories for Asoebi Styles

Accessories are a great way to add some personality to your look. However, classic look, try wearing plain jewellery and shoes, If you are going for an elegant look. However, also go for bolder pieces like chunky chokers or statement earrings, If you want a style that is further ultramodern and edgy.

You can also use accessories as a tool to express yourself through colour if one of your favourite colours is unheroic but it does not fit into your marriage’s colour scheme( which may be black), try wearing a bright unheroic bag or clutch rather!

How to select Asoebi Styles

The first step in opting for an Asoebi style is to consider your body type.

Do you have a long torso or a short bone?

Are your legs long and spare, or do they taper down to a narrow ankle?

If you have wide hips or a large bust, it’s important to make sure that the fabric of your dress will round those features.

Next is your skin tone: how dark or light are your arms and legs?
If they are veritably dark compared with the rest of your body( or if there is any chance that they could get sunburned), also choose a commodity that covers up as important skin as possible without looking too heavy-handed about it. Asoebi styles tend to be loose- befitting anyway; so if there is any chance of getting hot under all those layers of fabric during summertime espousal in Hawaii or Miami Beach. Well, you get my point!

Eventually, comfort! You do not want anything too tight around sensitive areas like bust lines because this can cause discomfort during long hours spent standing up straight while walking down an aisle; nor should anything be so loose around those same areas because also there will not be enough support for heavy guts which could lead back pain latterly on down life’s road– not delightful!

Tips for Choosing Asoebi Styles

Research

Take filmland of the clothes you like, and make sure to note down the brand name and price

Try on different clothes in your size to see how they fit you before buying them

Ask musketeers or family members for their opinions

How to watch for Asoebi Styles

The are some tips for minding your Asoebi styles

Wash your hair gently. Don’t rub or drop the hair with a kerchief, as this can beget ringlet and damage the cuticle of your hair. rather, gently stroke dry with a soft kerchief and also use an oil painting-grounded conditioner to moisturize your cinches before baptizing them into an Asoebi style.

Store your lacings in a watertight vessel if you are not wearing them right down; this will help keep humidity out and protract their life span!

Asoebi styles for marriages are a must-have for any woman who wants to look stylish on her big day. The dress will be the centrepiece of your outfit, so it’s important that you choose a commodity that fits your body type and complements your skin tone. However, do not worry– we’ve got some ideas!

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. As the bride, you want to look your absolute swish. One of the pivotal factors in achieving this is your makeup. Bridal makeup is a unique art form that requires a special approach. In this ultimate companion, we’ll share tips and tricks to help you achieve impeccable Bridal makeup.

Start With a Solid Foundation:

The first step to impeccable nuptial makeup is to have a solid foundation. This means taking care of your skin in the months leading up to the marriage. Drink a cornucopia of water, eat healthy foods, and get enough sleep. Invest in a good skincare routine that includes sanctification, trouncing, and moisturizing. Exfoliate once or twice a week to keep your skin smooth and radiant.

September 11th 1:00am

I was so worried. I feared something bad must have happened to Uncle K. As I walked down the stairs trying to rap my head around what had happened to me during the night; the blood stains and aches all over my body didn’t just happen overnight. I needed explanation to all of these.

The thought that something bad must have happened to Uncle K kept rushing through my mind as I checked through all the nooks and crannies of the house in search of him but I couldn’t find him. My worries heightened.

Suddenly I heard a sound coming from the boys quarter and so I decided to look around. Uncle K was seated by the bar in the boys quarter which used to be his favourite spot but that changed after my parents’ death.

“Omolola my little wife, you are awake. I can see you have had your bath”. He said to me in a drunken state, I was surprised seeing him that way, it had been a long time I saw him drink so much.

“Uncle K can I ask you a question” I asked.

“What will you like to know?” He asked smiling sheepishly as he gulped down a glass of red wine. “I noticed some strange things when I woke up” I told him, expecting some surprise from him. Shockingly, he wasn’t. Instead, he concentrated on his red wine. Not minding his reaction, I continued with my observation letting him know that I woke up few minutes ago with pains all over my lower region and I also found blood stains on the bed sheets and on my body. Then I asked out-rightly, “Uncle K, do you have any idea of what must have happened to me?”

Uncle K gave a wicked grin, he stood up and walked up to me standing right in front of me “Do you mean you do not know what happened?” I was dumb founded hearing him say that. “I will give you an insight of how the night was spent”.

‘’You know as a result of the cola I gave you, you became so weak, helpless, and beautiful. I realized it was time for us to play the daddy and mummy kind of game. As I looked into your beaming eyes I couldn’t resist kissing you, I enjoyed the way I had a nice ride on you. The blood you saw on the bed sheet is as a result of the sweet ride we had last night”.

For few minutes I was dumb founded. Did Uncle K just admit to raping me? The fact that he raped me, O my God! my uncle raped me! my own blood took my innocence away from me! Tears started rolling down my eyes, it felt like a running tap that wouldn’t stop.

I expected an apology from him. I wished he could blame it on the alcohol, but no he did not. I thought I had seen the worst of it when I lost my parents. I never knew my life had just turned a disaster.

“You are now a woman and should in case you are trying to remember how this happened, you won’t be able to pin point it, cos the cola i gave you was drugged”. I started to tremble, I couldn’t fathom it.

My own Uncle did this to me!!

Uncle K didn’t mind. He didn’t care that what he did meant something to me. He destroyed my pride! My innocence!

I couldn’t help but watch him stagger to find his way into the bedroom.

13th of March 11:00pm

As I walked into the club in my black slinky dress, I could hear the ever buzzing IF by Davido. There were multi-coloured flashing lights on the dance floor of the club, but the lights were not bright enough to reach beyond that.
“The club looks so crowded tonight”, I thought to myself. As I made my way to the bar. Dancing sweaty bodies press and rub up against me. I didn’t mind because I was enjoying the groove of the moment. Moreover it was the easiest way for me to get to the bar. So I got a spot on one of the bar stool, I ordered for a bottle of cold glass of a red claret.
`Hello pretty, is this seat beside you taken?’ I raised up my head to locate where the masculine voice came from and I saw a tall light skinned man in a blue fitted suit standing beside me with smiles flashing all over his face.
I told him the seat was empty and he could have his seat, I went back to what I was doing which was an eagle-eyed exploration of every corner of the club for a nice looking dude to make my trip to the club worthwhile.
As he took his seat beside me, the smell of his cologne got my attention, this guy worth’s a billion dollar bucks even his cologne can testify to it, my eyes travelled down to his shoes and of cause from my evaluation of all what was on him ,I knew I had met a ‘big fish’ tonight.

`I’m Femi Badmus, the CEO of MOV Enterprises, am sure you must be familiar with the name, I also control the leading telecommunication firm in the country, Tigo communications, and it will be a great honour for me to know the name of this beautiful lady sitting down beside me` he said to me.

I rolled my eyes as I told him my name was Tracy, A 200 level student of mass communication of the prestigious university of Canford university Lagos.
We got talking and I actually found him interesting. He made my day when he offered to pay for my drink, do you care to dance I asked him rolling my eyes at the same time biting my upper lips he told me he was not a dancing type, but after tilting my head sideways and showing him some of my dance moves he could not resist the urge to dance with me.
I wondered why he said he was not the dancing type because he sure had some moves in him, it was getting late because we had danced all night in the club we were left alone we must have lost track of the time.

He suggested following me to my room so as to complete what we have started, I gladly told him that was not a problem, pay before service is what I do and 30minutes cost you 1million naira, He was shocked hearing such an outrageous amount from me I never appeared to him as a Pay as you go personnel, but I knew he had no choice than to accept my offer I could see he was already drooling the brother is already into me.
Immediately we got into his car I received an alert of 2 million Naira from Femi Badmus this guy sure means business , following the text message ‘Tracy do not spend too much time with Mr Femi Badmus, you have a client for 6:00am. Make sure you deliver on time or else…………. from K’

Each time I received a message from my handler it sends shivers through my spine as if I have a time bomb tied around my neck, how can I escape this time bomb.

September 10th 3:00pm

September is here again which happens to be my birthday I will be 12 years old on the 10th of September, Uncle K had planned a birthday party for me, we went out for shopping because I had decided to wear something new for the party, we also made a quick stop at the caterers office to ensure everything was going as planned.

Some of my friends from school including Amina came for the party, the theme for the birthday was pink ,all my friends had a pink dress on ,the house was filled with a lot of pink themed decorations my cake was a character cake that had my picture on it .

Few of Uncle K friends came for the party also so it wasn’t just little girls party, we had so much fun at the party, Uncle K made the party a memorable one better that what I had my mum had in mind for my birthday before death took them away from me .we had a one minute silent in remembrance of them.

It was game time we had picked Aluminium foil game, we had two teams and each team was given aluminium foil to make a runway outfit dresses for me the celebrant and I was to wear them on a runway in other to showcase the dresses made by the team, I looked at myself in the mirror was dressed like a grown up with make up all over my face. The team Amina belonged to won the game everyone had so much fun during the game time.

It was time to hit the dance floor for the celebrant dance, I requested ‘’ Daddy yo’’ by Wizkid . Before I realized what was happening the dance floor was filled up, I thought I was the only one who loves to dance to wizkid’s hit, and we all danced until we got tired of dancing.

I and Uncle K sat in front of the A stack of unopened presents stood in the corner of the room wrapped in smooth shiny wrapping paper. A silk pink bow had been carefully tied around each of the gift. I decided to open the gift Amina bought for me it was a yellow diary seeing the diary made my day as I had told her the day the we went shopping I wanted a diary. I never knew she paid attention to me that day.

The next gift I opened was a big one that had a big ribbon o it and I was so eager to open it, a little note was attached to the gift to my little girl friend I wondered who had dropped the gift for me what stroked me was the hand writing of the sender which looked like something I have seen before, I said to myself I now have a secret admirer I couldn’t wait to tell Amina about my secret admirer.

`I see you have seen the gift I bought for you, I hope you like the teddy bear I got you` Uncle K said as he walked in with 2 bottles of coca cola drink in his hands.

`O when did I become your little girlfriend` I asked him as I hugged him to thank him for the gift he got for me by this time I was already feeling sleepy I had managed to finish my drink .

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I felt so light headed as I open my eyes , I can’t seems to place how I got into the room . I tried getting up from the bed but I felt sharp pain around my thigh I thought to myself I must have danced so much at my birthday party for me to feel this pains all over my thighs and leg.

I need to visit the ladies, so I had no choice than to drag myself out of the bed, as I stood up I noticed I had been sleeping in a pool of blood.

Blood on the bed sheet?

Whose blood is this? I murmured softly to myself.

I looked all over the room to get traces of where the blood came from; I also noticed my dress was stained. I became so confused, I was terrified due to the fact that I couldn’t find Uncle K, and could this be his blood on my body.

What is happening in this house or am I dreaming.

Like a speed of light, Uncle K rushed to my bed, jacked Emeka up and gave him the beating of his life. I have never seen Uncle K this furious and angry.

Uncle K`s eyes was filled with so much rage as he strangled Emeka. I had to let out a scream before Uncle K could leave Emeka alone. I hardly recognized my Uncle. In all the eyes I have known Uncle K, I had never seen him this angry. I was scared for Emeka’s life.

I sat down with tears in my eyes as I watched the police handcuff Emeka out of the house in the morning. I could not believe all the escapades that happened last night; Emeka the security guard tried taking advantage of me?

Questions kept coming to my mind. I continued wondering how he had access into the main house, how did he gain access into my room. The only time he is authorized to step into the house is to inform us of a visitor. His main duty is to guard the house.

`I can’t imagine what pushed him into the house, am sure it was Efya the Ghanaian house help that gave him access into the house. I have been suspecting their closeness lately. I wish I had taken a drastic action before all this happened`, Uncle K said as he tried consoling me.

Efya swore with her father’s grave to never letting Emeka into the house. I saw the sincerity in her eyes so I asked Uncle K to let her be because he was about to sack her. So I pleaded on her behave.

I was happy Emeka was not successful with his intentions, as that was all that mattered to me right there and then. Amina came visiting because she did not see me in school. I was so ashamed to tell what had happened so I lied to her. I was not feeling fine and I had to rest at home. I looked into her eyes to see if she bought my lies and I realized she was more comfortable with the lies than I had imagined.

04:00pm

Emeka was released from the police station later that afternoon. He came for his belongings and requested to have a word with me. He knelt down begging for my forgiveness and told me it was the devil’s work. He also pleaded with me to help him secure his job as our security guard.

Forgiveness was a luxury to dish out to Emeka as at that particular time. I also promised him I was going to have a discussion with Uncle K which I did but he refused bluntly but promised to give him money worth his salary for one year so as to enable him stand on his feet.

Uncle K gave Emeka the money he promised. Emeka cried like a baby; I have never seen a grown man cry this way.

I felt pity for him not minding I was the victim but the deed had been done, there was nothing I could do about it. This I know for sure. Whenever Uncle K makes up his mind about anything, no one can change his decision.

I started having series of nightmares at night and this made it difficult for me to sleep alone at night. Uncle K suggested we sleep in the same room. At first the suggestion seemed so wired, but I was left with no choice, I had to welcome the idea if it means I would be able to sleep soundly at night and no more fear of me being raped at night.
