The year 2017 can be described as the year when top notch songs trended. Hardly will you attend a typical owanbe in Nigeria without having these songs on the playlist. Without any of these songs, the party seems almost incomplete. However, the moment the DJ drops either of these songs, trust the party to come to live!

The songs currently making waves are:

IF:

This song was released 2017 by the popular artist Davido a.k.a OBO and produced by Tekno. The song was accepted with much love as soon as it was released and hardly will you be at any party without the song being played. Everybody wants ‘tharty billion’ in their account as proclaimed by the musical artist. Davido also did a remix of this song with the music legend R Kelly, this is to show how much global recognition this song got. ‘IF’ earned Davido the  City People Music Award for Popular Song of the Year

LADIES AND GENTLE MEN:

Reekado Banks who won the next rated artist at the last year Headies award released this song in 2016. The song which hasn’t stopped trending even in 2017, will never cease to get tons of people moving to its groove. This song which also serves as a callers tune has a blend of Yoruba and English making it easily acceptable by both the young and the old.

FALL:

Fall is another pop music the musical artiste Davido which was released 2017. This song has gotten him nominations like the City People Music Award for Music Producer of the Year amongst others. The song has been received by many with the jamz causing people to scream at parties.

PENALTY:

The new single produced by fast and rising star Small doctor was released in 2016 but is still paving ways now in 2017. A lot of people have come out with their own version of the son, that’s to show how relevance the song is. The hip hop/rap music has bagged its Artist the award City People Music Awards for Street Music of the Year

 

NOBODY UGLY:

P Square really did justice to this song as it serves as a reminder to everyone that no matter how you look, you definitely are beautiful the way you are. The music was a story line that ended with a word of encouragement that, everyone is indeed beautiful. Even the video complimented the story line. And I can say that it found its way into my favourite music this year.

UNCLE SURU:

It is not every time we find solace in the beat of a song. Sometimes it’s advisable we check out for the lyrics and melody of the music. Jon Ogah would not have been more right when he brought in Simi and Adekunle gold to feature in that great music. For a lot of people this song remained on repeat for some days after its release this year. Uncle Suru spoke about patience and accomplishment.

 

WO:

Olamide’s latest music. This music has been everywhere since its release this year with everyone dancing to it melodious beat. There has been series of WO challenge on social media, thanks to Olamide and the WO song. Many have been creating their own dance step to the song in the WO challenge. Recently a ban was placed on the music, although the issue has been resolved but that ban made the song more popular.

 

JOROMI:

This is one of the beautiful song by Simi. Since the release of this song August 2017, it is yet to leave the lips of the music lovers. This is one song that tells a story of love, not a grooving song but an enjoyable song.

 

CALL ON ME:

Adekunle Gold did justice to this song as it has received a wild range of audience since its release. It depicts the awesomeness in the Adekunle gold’s genre of music. Since its release in July 2017, it has been trending on every musical site.

 

LIVING THING:

After few months of holiday from the industry, 9ice is beginning to win back the heart of his fans. The Alapomeji crooner came out with Living thing November 2016 and has since been trending.
